The Drill & Tap (D&T) process has been performed at industrial locations for more than 60 years. In recent years, it has become a much more effective process with the invention of Certified Low E injectable packing, and due to changes in Consent Decree language written and supported by the US Environmental Protection Agency. The RFS Compliance Solutions Drill & Tap Training Program provides End User personnel and subcontractors the knowledge and tools necessary to carry out the D&T process effectively and safely.

A review of available injectable packing materials is covered to help understand how they can be used in the Low E repair of valves. More than one material is available, made of graphite with different fiber contents, as well as PTFE materials for those who allow and use these materials.
